How To Deface Salazar Portrait In Resident Evil 4 Without Missing The Challenge

Completing requests for the Merchant in the Resident Evil 4 remake offers valuable Spinel rewards, but certain tasks require unconventional problem-solving. Among these is "The Disgrace of the Salazar Family," which asks players to deface a painting of Ramon Salazar inside the Castle. Understanding the specific mechanics required ensures you complete the request smoothly without wasting resources or missing the objective before reaching the point of no return.
Locating the Salazar Portrait
To begin this request, navigate to Chapter 12 and pick up the blue note posted near the Merchant's shop after taking the elevator. The attached photograph directs players back toward the eastern side of the Castle inside the Throne Room. After dealing with nearby enemies, enter the Throne Room where the portrait hangs along the left wall near the main throne.
Obtaining the Correct Projectile
Many players attempt to shoot, knife, or blast the artwork, but standard weaponry will not trigger the challenge completion. The true solution requires throwing a regular chicken egg directly at Ramon's face in the portrait. You can find chickens roaming the Throne Room floor that will lay eggs over time if you wait patiently, or you can use any egg saved from earlier chapters.
Executing the Throw Without Mistakes
Once you acquire an egg, open your inventory, select the egg, and choose the option to equip it like a throwables item. Aim carefully at the painting using the throwing arc trajectory before releasing it. If you accidentally eat the egg or miss your target, simply wait for the local chickens to produce another egg or reload your most recent save file.
Claiming Your Merchant Reward
After successfully splattering the portrait with an egg, the request marker will update to show completion. Head back to the Merchant to turn in the task and claim your reward of four Spinels. Be sure to finish this challenge before taking the cable car to the Clock Tower, as advancing past that point prevents you from returning to the area.
